The Red Sox today signed shortstop Casey Kelly from Sarasota, Florida. He was the 30th overall pick in the amateur draft and profiles as both a hitter and a pitcher, the latter of which the Sox prefer Kelly become.
Assigned to the Rookie Gulf Coast League Red Sox, the speculation occurring to Rotoworld.com is that he will play shortstop and then convert to the mound in the instructional league in October.
