The Red Sox had their final regular season game at Fenway yesterday as they were taking on RA Dickey and the Blue Jays. The Sox had Felix Doubront on the mound who had some extra rest after being skipped in the rotation due to off days last week. The rest seemed to do Doubront well as he pitched a strong outing in route to a win.
The Blue Jays cracked the scoreboard first, but their lead did not last for long. Doubront gave up an RBI single to Pillar in the 2nd inning to have the Jays up 1-0. In the bottom of the inning the Sox offense got that run back and then some. Lavarnway hit an RBI single to score Nava and then Jackie Bradley Jr hit a 3 run HR to right field to have the Sox leading 4-1. Felix didn't give up another run in the 5th when he gave up a solo HR to Pillar. Sox 4-2. In the 6th the Sox got that run back when Papi hit a solo HR of his own to right. Sox 5-2. Doubront pitched through the 7th and had himself a nice outing. His pitching line for the night was 97 pitches, 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB and 2 Ks.
Franklin Morales came out for the 8th inning and continued to show why he will probably not have a spot on the postseason roster. Morales didn't allow a run to score, but he sure made it dramatic. Morales gave up 2 singles, a wild pitch and a walk in the inning, but got out of it all with some nice defense behind him. Koji Uehara came in for the 9th and had himself his usual 1-2-3 inning for the save and the win.
Red Sox 5 Blue Jays 2 BOXSCORE
WP: Doubront (11-6) LP: Dickey (13-13) SV: Uehara (21)
