Notre Dame early enrollee (Freshman), Spencer Boyd is going to transfer from Notre Dame to a school closer to home (most likely South Florida per Eric Hanson of the South Bend Tribune.
Academic issues, along with personal issues are the likely reasons why. Boyd, a cornerback, has a son back in Florida, and as a father myself, I can see how the problems of being away from his son were too much for him to overcome and were also, most likely, a big reason for the struggles academically.
It’s great that Notre Dame is now allowing early enrollees, but Boyd represents what can happen when it doesn’t work out. It was a bit more then a lot of people could handle and certainly more than an 18 year old that should just be graduating from high school.
