Splitter, Valencia hand Lukoil first Eurocup loss

Splitter notched 9 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, shot 4-11 from the field in 29 minutes in what probably was one of the remaining games he will play in for Valencia now that the NBA lockout is all but over.

Spurs draftee Nando De Colo finished with 8 points, 1 block, in 22 minutes for Valencia. 

Beating Lukoil marks Valencia’s second win at the Eurocup and will next play Real Madrid.

As reported earlier this week, Splitter has said he will remain with Valencia until the official end of the lockout.

“Not up to me when I return. I’m having a great time and there are still a few days, seven, ten or fifteen to enjoy and win games.”

“[I]t is good for all players because we want to play in the NBA but still do not know what the agreement and must have a series of procedures to start all that I do not know how they are going.”

“I want to enjoy and win in my last days with Valencia.”

So far Tony Parker and Da’Sean Butler have left their respective overseas teams to return to the U.S. since word of a tentative agreement between owners and players was announced.
