Welp, here goes nothing:
Florek, Spooner, Koko, Smith (subject to waivers) sent to Providence, per #bruins

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js It is official, Ryan Spooner is no longer on the Bruins roster. That isn’t to say that the Bruins can’t call him up after making some changes (ie: trades) to their roster before next week happens, but it is a little concerning that guys like Simon Gagne and Bobby Robbins continue to occupy a roster spot.
Also you should note that ‘Smith’ is goalie Jeremy Smith and not Reilly Smith, so no need for the panic attacks.
I am not bummed that Spooner got sent down to Providence, I am more bummed that (as of this post) a guy like Robbins hasn’t. For all of Chiarelli’s hemming and hawing about changes in the NHL – Boston continues to believe in defined roles for the fourth line. The fourth line needs to be a “grind, grit and balls line” with just a touch of offensive talent. While Spooner is better than an 8 or 9 minute a night player, the notion that Robbins needs to be a Bruin to fill Shawn Thornton’s enforcer role kind of shows how archaic the Bruins thinking is.
Then again, Robbins could be cut on Saturday and all of this is bullshit.
I’m not going to lose my shit over the Bruins roster until October 7th when we know who is going to be playing Wednesday against Philadelphia.
