Back with another edition of the Sports Media Weekly Podcast. Keith Thibault of Sports Media Journal and I return to discuss the latest news in the sports media.
Today, we talk about the release of the NFL schedule including a few quirks like Sunday Night Football not taking a week off for the World Series.
We also exchange our thoughts on the NFL Draft going to primetime and what type of ratings it could receive.
Then we move to talking Chris Berman signing a contract extension with ESPN and talk about CBS/Turner Sports apparently outbidding the Alleged Worldwide Leader for the NCAA Tournament. Then we look back at the life of former International Olympic Committee President Juan Antonio Samaranch who died on Wednesday.
We bring in our guest, the television voice of the Florida Marlins, Rich Waltz. Rich talks about his becoming the announcer for the Marlins after beginning his career on the West Coast.
Rich also gives us a progress update on the new Marlins Stadium and his love of The Beatles. It’s great stuff and a good listen. You can always download it by going to iTunes and doing a search for Sports Media Journal (don’t forget to leave feedback) or you can go here.
