Spurs assign Ford to D-League for rehab stint

T.J. Ford will be joining Cory Joseph out in Austin as the San Antonio Spurs have announced Ford will be joining the Toros for a one-game Spurs assign Ford to D-League for rehab stintrehab-stint.

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have assigned T.J. Ford to the Austin Toros of the NBA Development League as he continues his rehabilitation process from a torn left hamstring he suffered at Milwaukee on Jan. 10.

Though Ford has been playing well since his return from a hamstring injury, in this condensed season, anytime a player can get in more practice time and a chance to remain healthy will do wonders.

Throughout his NBA career, Ford has dealt with many injuries. He sat out the entire 2004-2005 season due to a spinal chord injury, and during his time with the Rators, he received a flagrant foul from Hawks’ Al Horford causing him to miss games in the 2007 season.

Hopefully, T.J. can be 100% healthy come playoff time seeing how Tony Parker has been logging 34.3 minutes per game and Ford can put in quality time on the court so TP can rest. Also, with Joseph in the D-League, the Spurs do not have much depth at backup point guard.
