After six days of the 2017 Eurobasket competition, all three San Antonio Spurs players participating in the game and their potential prospect Adam Hanga have clinched a berth to meet in the round of 16 this weekend. Pau Gasol and Spain have remained unbeaten, Davis Bertans and Latvia are sitting in first in their respective group standings, Joffrey Lauvergne and France sit second in their group standings, and Hanga and Hungary have bounced back with two wins in a row. Here were some scores and storylines over day 5 and 6 of Eurobasket regarding the Spurs affiliated players.
Bertans and Latvia
Monday 09/04/2017 – Latvia 97 (2-1), Great Britain 92
After missing Latvia’s second game with a minor finger injury, Bertans returned to put on a shooting display from the outside, as he finished with 22 points on 7-8 shooting from 3-point range, while also collecting a rebound, assist and two steals in 18 minutes. Whether it was off screen action or spot up action, Bertans was almost perfect from anywhere he shot from Monday.

In Tuesday’s game, Bertans logged 25 minutes of play on his way to nine points (4-8 shooting), but he did add five rebounds and one assist in the win for his team.
With the back-to-back wins, Latvia has not only secured a place in the round of 16, but they have a chance to finish first in Group D during group play. In their final game of the group phase, Latvia will face Turkey on Thursday at 12:45 PM CST.
Gasol and Spain
Monday 09/04/2017 – Spain 91 (3-0), Romania 50
Gasol was able to rest during this game and still Spain was too much for Romania, as the Spanish defeated the host country by 41 points.
Tuesday 09/05/2017 – Spain 79 (4-0), Croatia 73
In what was no doubt their toughest matchup so far of the tournament, Gasol and Spain prevailed in a close victory against Croatia. In 29 minutes, Gasol finished with 11 points (5-14 shooting), 10 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.
With their fourth win, Spain has secured the number one position for Group C regardless of what will happen as the result in their final group phase game Thursday, when Spain takes on Hungary at 9:15 AM CST.
Lauvergne and France
Tuesday 09/05/2017 – France 78 (3-1), Poland 75
Lauverge and France were able to take a lead late in the fourth quarter against Poland to hold on for the win. Lauvergne logged 26 minutes of action where he finished with six points (1-9 shooting), 11 rebounds and three assists.
France sits second in Group A and they have clinched a berth in the round of 16. Les Bleus’ final game of the group phase will take place Wednesday against Slovenia at 6:45 AM CST.
Hanga and Hungary
Monday 09/04/2017 – Hungary 85 (1-2), Czech Republic 73
Hanga was too much for the Czech Republic to handle, as he finished with a game-high 31 points (10-16 shooting), eight rebounds and eight assists, while drilling 6-9 three pointers in 33 minutes to lead Hungary to their first tournament win.

This victory over Romania for Hungary all but secured an invitation to the round of 16. Hanga finished with 25 points (8-19 shooting), six rebounds, two assists and one steal in 32 minutes for Hungary during this game.
Hungary’s final game of the group phase is set for Thursday at 9:15 AM CST versus Gasol and Spain.
