Spurs Eurobasket Round-Up: France and Lauvergne Eliminated by Germany

Eurobasket 2017

France and San Antonio Spurs center Joffrey Lauvergne’s run at the 2017 Eurobasket tournament has come to an end after France was narrowly defeated by Germany Saturday. Even though France opened the game with an early nine-point lead in the first quarter, Les Bleus couldn’t sustain the momementum as the German duo of Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder (21 points, 8 assists) and Boston Celtics forward Daniel Theis (22 points, 7 rebounds) prevailed to be too much for France.

France was led by three of their NBA players in Orlando Magic guard Evan Fournier (27 points), Boris Diaw (15 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) and Lauvergne, who finished with 13 points (6-11 shooting) and seven rebounds in 17 minutes of play. Lauvergne did have one gnarly throw-down dunk as seen at the end of this game recap reel below.

For now, Lauvergne will have roughly 16 days to rest and recover before training camp with the Spurs begins in late September.
