As free agency began, San Antonio Spurs free agent Danny Green experienced a new moment in his young NBA career, he was no longer trying to earn a position on a team, instead teams are offering positions to him. The feeling for Green of being a restricted free agent? “Anxious” (via of Newsday.com).
“Definitely, definitely a lot of anxiety,” Green told Newsday at the Steve Nash Foundation Showdown soccer game in Manhattan this past week. “A very exciting time for me and my family. I’m anxious.”
The Spurs have already extended a qualifying offer to Green and the Utah Jazz are one team that is reportedly interested in signing Green. But as Green told our own Jeff Garcia last week, he’s looking for the best situation for him and his family. According to the article, Green sees the Spurs as his number one option because if it wasn’t for San Antonio, he wouldn’t be in the position he’s in today.
“San Antonio, obviously, they are my No. 1 option because they have given me the opportunity and they took a chance with me. I had a chance to showcase what I can do, that I belong in the league and I can play a little bit. So hopefully, other teams could see that and hopefully this could be a big step in my career and lengthening my career.”
