The San Antonio Spurs have sent rookie point guard Cory Joseph back to their D-League affiliate Austin Toros.
Joseph has seen action in 27 games for the Spurs this season, averaging 1.7 points and 1.1 assists in 7.6 minutes.
Joseph has had two stints with the Toros this season. He has seen action in six games, averaging 10.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.67 steals in 30.7 minutes.
Sending Cory back to the Toros could signal the Spurs officially signing Patty Mills or Derek Fisher as backup point guard since T.J. Ford has retired. The Mills signing was all but done until it was discovered the Blazers hadn’t renounced his right quite yet. Also, with Fisher being released by the Rockets, it would not be a surprise to see him in black and silver (as odd as that might look) but the Heat, and Thunder are reportedly the front-runners for Fisher’s services.
