After flying in to San Antonio for a physical last night, 30-year-old forward Ime Udoka officially signed with the Spurs today.
We reported earlier in the week that Udoka’s agent, Erin Cowan, told the Oregonian that Udoka and the Spurs had come to terms on a deal that would put the former Blazer in Silver and Black for the next two years, with the second year having a player option.
“Ime’s very, very excited to join the Spurs. I think it’s a win-win situation. It gives Ime a chance to continue his career on the grand stage and, frankly, I think the Spurs are getting a steal of a deal,” Cowan told the San Antonio Express-News.
Udoka will likely backup Bruce Bowen at small forward next season and give the Spurs another high-energy defensive specialist when Bowen heads to the bench.
