Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News reports that the Spurs contacted Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess and Brandon Bass yesterday. It appears that Wallace is the Spurs “Plan A” with McDyess and Bass as their backup plan.
Wallace’s agent had this to say about the Spurs:
“There’s interest, mutual interest, I would say,” Wallace’s agent, Bill Strickland, said Wednesday. “I would say the Spurs have a job to do.”
Boston is believed to be the frontrunner in the Rasheed Sweepstakes but it’s too early to tell on these sort of situations.
Also, the Spurs are believed to be interested in Marcin Gortat but that article does not specifically mention that the Spurs contacted him.
