According to Yahoo Sports, the Spurs have signed forward Austin Croshere to a 10-day contract.
Croshere has played for the Pacers, Mavs, Warriors and most recently the Bucks, until he was waived on January 6. The 6-10 Croshere is now in his 12th NBA season and has career averages of 6.9 points and 4.1 rebounds.
The signing doesn’t make much sense to me, especially since the Spurs need the help of a center instead of a sharp-shooting big who would rather sit on the perimeter instead of mixing it up inside. At the same time, it doesn’t hurt, since it is a 10-day contract just to get a chance to see what Croshere has and what he could contribute to the Spurs.
