You count me among the many, I assume, that had no idea John Goodman was a St. Louis native.
I’m not sure where I thought he was from (California, maybe…Louisiana, perhaps), but dude is apparently a big enough name in the Gateway City, that the Cardinals honored him with his own night as the team took on the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday.
And prior to the game…the film and TV star threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHhKZvGpf9A]That wasn’t enough however.
A number of the fans in attendance not only got to see their seemingly beloved native son throw out the first pitch, they also walked away with a bobblehead of Goodman decked out as Walter Sobchak from the ever-popular “The Big Lebowski”.
That bobblehead really ties the room together! #STLCards pic.twitter.com/rnub9lEQzc

But possibly the best thing about the night might just be this.
Here on John Goodman night, my in Busch bleachers just took this pic pic.twitter.com/crAmBCDOBV

That’s right, there in the bleachers at Busch Stadium…Goodman’s doppelgänger.
Pretty sweet.
