Playing against the Carolina Panthers today, St. Louis Rams quarterback and former Number one pick Sam Bradford tore his ACL today, ending his 2013 season. The tear is in his left knee which is Bradford’s planting foot, which might have a ripple effect as he tries to rehab until the 2014 season begins. As this will cause his accuracy to be tested, not to mention his sheer passing rhythm and also his confidence to throw the ball.

Bradford has been widely regarded as having the worst contract in professional football history thanks to being the last person to earn the massive rookie contract, as he received a six-year deal worth 78 million dollars with 50 million of it guaranteed.

With Bradford going down for the year, the only other quarterback on the roster is Kellen Clemens who was formerly part of the New York Jets. There is already a great deal of talk to see if the Rams would consider bringing in the extremely polarizing Tim Tebow to replace Bradford. The problem with the Rams currently the stock of quarterbacks that are at least marginal are all on teams, so they might have to trade a draft pick or two to make a game changing move that will list at least nine more games. If they trade for someone good, there might be a quarterback controversy going into the 2014 season despite Bradford might have much more leverage as he will be making more than most quarterbacks in the NFL due to the aforementioned absurd deal he received. Also the Rams can’t afford to cut him after the season since he would represent nearly 10.2 million in dead cap space for 2014.

All and all, it should be interesting to see what the Rams do for next week as they host division rival the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, since without Bradford their decent chances drop to extremely slim in a heartbeat.
