Staff Predictions: Bills/Jets

RobinLopez

Mike: Jets, 30-3. Watching the Bills getting absolutely steamrolled last week by a bad Dolphins team has essentially erased any optimism I had – they can’t score, they can’t stop anyone from scoring, and they seem to be locked in a competition with the Sabres as to which Buffalo sports franchise can sustain more injuries.  If the Bills couldn’t be competitive with the Jets three weeks ago, how are they going to bridge that gap after losing Fred Jackson and Terrence McGee, among others, to IR? My only hope is that this game somehow remains watchable into the second half.  I’m not holding my breath.

Brandon: Jets, 44-3. OK, so maybe it won’t be that bad, but it won’t be pretty… Here it is: Jets 27, Bills 10. What can I really say at this point? The Bills have lost Freddy Jackson for the season, David Nelson is gone, Stevie Johnson is hurting, Fitz is looking like the quarterback I warned you all about, and the defense is, well, maybe even worse than last year. Both the Jets and Bills stand at 5-5 for this game, but you’re fooling yourself if you don’t think the Jets are miles ahead of where the Bills are right now. With all of the injuries and uncertainty on offense, the Jets defense will have no trouble stopping what is left of the once formidable Bills’ passing game. Unless you think C.J. Spiller is in store for a break-out performance and actually begins to live up to his draft hype, the Bills will be lucky to score a touchdown. Bottom line is the Bills’ season is done. You’re extremely naive and quite possibly insane if you think otherwise. All we can hope for now is for the Bills to tank the season, finish 5-11 like everyone knew they would, and salvage at least a respectable draft position. Sorry guys, it’s over. I don’t know why you’re surprised; this is the Bills.

Mark: Jets, 31-7. After Fred Jackson was put on IR, I almost made this prediction worse but I decided to not go that far on negative side of things. But it’s not going to be close any way you shake it. The Bills confidence is sunken to a low equaling last year’s 0-8 start and the Jets are going to be an angry, focused team after losing their last game, which happened to be over a week ago so they are well rested. I haven’t picked against the Bills since week 3 vs the Patriots, but I’m afraid this is going to be a regular thing the last six weeks. I still like our spunk, but a team like us with lesser talent can’t lose the players we’ve lost to injury and stay competitive. It’s going to be a long 3 hours on Sunday.

Shelby: Since all of my predictions have been wrong lately, I’ll say the Jets win, I don’t know by how much, but the Bills just look deflated. Without Jackson, there isn’t much left.

Joe: Jets, 35-3. Yeah, my hope for this season is pretty much over. The Bills got crushed last time they played the Jets and that was when they had Eric Wood, Fred Jackson and Terrene McGee in the lineup. Even if those guys were there, I wouldn’t give the Bills much of a chance. The Jets are going down that Patriots road of dominating the Bills. Over the last three games, the Jets have outscored the Bills, 103-32. It is sad how the Jets offense, which isn’t anything to write home about, has dominated the Bills. Offensively, Fitzpatrick has a completed less than 50% of his passes and has averaged only 137 yards a game over his career against NY. The Bills just don’t match up well against the Jets. They have the personnel and scheme to shut down the Bills offense and with the Bills defense being pathetic, the Jets have every single advantage over the Bills.
