Penn State looks to keep their all-time record against Indiana unblemished this weekend. The Nittany Lions have never lost a football game to the Hoosiers, and if Bill O’Brien has anything to say about it this will be the case once again this weekend.
Penn State and Indiana are both coming off losses from last week in Big Ten play, but at least we can say Penn State had a puncher’s chance in their loss compared to Indiana. The Hoosiers were blasted at home by Wisconsin while Penn State lost a tough one in Lincoln in controversial fashion.
So, how do we feel about this weekend’s game between the Nittany Lions and Hoosiers? Frighteningly similar. Have a look at what we say, and share your predictions in the comments.
Ryan Murphy: Penn State trends towards coming out hot early in games, but I think the post-REPLAYGATE fallout will have PSU feeling like the world owes them. I see Indiana playing sharp early and taking a first half lead over a moody Lions team, 14-10. PSU’s talent-gap will be apparent in the second half though, and the team will find its groove on the way to a 38-24 victory. Look for a comeback game by Bill Belton.

Marty Valania: Resiliency. This Penn State team has shown it all year. They will need to show it again Saturday after a difficult loss to Nebraska with a terrible blown touchdown call contributing to it. In addition, the crowd will be small and many students won’t be there. They’re going to have to get themselves up for this one. Despite those issues, I expect this team to respond well. Bill O’Brien continues to say that his team practices well and works hard. If that’s the case, it should have plenty left in the tank to take down an Indiana team that got smashed at home by Wisconsin last week. A win also clinches a winning season.

Michael Renahan: With just 2 games left in the season the Penn State Nittany Lions look to finish strong against an ailing Indiana Hoosiers squad. The Nittany Lions are coming off an incredibly controversial loss against Nebraska (it was a touchdown) and are looking to get back on pace. The Nittany Lions have relied on a balanced offensive attack in 2012 featuring multiple backs and receivers. This week should not be too different. Zach Zwinak has almost rushed for 700 yards so look for him to take the majority of the carries against the Indiana is coming off a bad loss against Big Ten rival Wisconsin and should be in for another bad loss against Penn State. If McGloin, Zwinak and the defense play the way we have come accustom to, Penn State should have no problem against the Hoosiers. We saw Shane McGregor this week, maybe he will get to see some time this week.
Penn State 35, Indiana 21
Kevin McGuire: Indiana flirted with a nice happy story this season but had their dose of reality last week at home against Wisconsin. I expect more of the same this weekend, although given the series history I think a blowout win would be unwise to bank on. Indiana has a knack for keeping things looking closer than they probably really are or should be. Penn State struggled to pull out a victory last year in Bloomington, but given the new-look offense I think Penn State is able to jump out to an early lead and never see this game hang out there for the Hoosiers to have much of a chance.
