The Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Cleveland Browns at Heinz Field this Sunday and will also welcome above-average ticket prices on the secondary market. The Week 1 matchup may not see rookie phenom Johnny Manziel take the field, but tickets remain relatively high in price for the underachievement the Browns have produced in recent years.
According to TiqIQ, the season average for Pittsburgh Steelers tickets is $217.59 on the secondary market, up nearly 32% from last season’s average of $164.96. When Cleveland comes to town this weekend, the average price for Steelers vs Browns tickets is currently $223.33 on the secondary market, 3% above season average, with get-in price starting at $61. The two teams last played in Pittsburgh during Week 17 last season, with average price going for $196.38.
The Pittsburgh Steelers schedule will see the Browns again on October 12 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. The average secondary price for that game is currently $180.49, up over 43% from the Browns’ season average of $125.83. Last season, the Steelers took both games from the Browns. With Cleveland slated to have another year of remodeling as star wideout Josh Gordon sits out the whole season on a banned substance violation and Brian Hoyer hears whispers of Manziel after each failed offensive drive, the Browns will already be thrown to a vastly different Steelers team, who are restocked with new positional coaches and a plethora of new, young receivers. The Steelers will also swap free safety Mike Mitchell for the underperforming Ryan Clark, who left the Pittsburgh secondary vulnerable to pass plays.
While the Steelers will look to break from the pains of consecutive 8-8 seasons, their new identity will look to hit the ground running against the Browns on Sunday. Secondary market ticket prices remain above the season average for the first Steelers game of the season.
