Kevin Allen at USA Today previews today’s Team USA/Sweden matchup in the World Hockey Championships at 2:15 p.m. on Versus…

“Although this is the USA’s first test against one of the true hockey powers, the Americans have performed better than expected. The young squad has shown itself to be quick and poised. The Americans have scored nine goals in its first two games and rallied from a two-goal deficit to down Norway. Its two college players, Kreider (Rangers prospect) and Smith (Nashville Predators prospect), have been important contributors. But Team USA’s strength is its puck-moving defense. Five defensemen have registered points.”

Team USA is 2-0-0 and has clinched a spot in the qualifying round.

…all three of the Rangers young stars have performed great so far, however, the competition to this point hasn’t been very good so today will be a nice test.
