Steve Kerr On Stephen Curry: “Best Point Guard In The NBA”

Head Coach Steve Kerr has been around the NBA for quite some time — 26 years to be exact.

After having a very successful NBA career, which included him setting the NBA record in career 3-point field goal percentage, he continued on to be a general manager, a broadcaster and now the head coach of the Golden State Warriors.

All that being said, it’s unlikely that Kerr would be the type to toss around words lightly and say things that he does not believe, especially the term, “best point guard in the NBA.”

But that is exactly what he said in a video on the Warriors’ Instagram, in which he singled out Stephen Curry as the best point guard in the NBA.

Kerr was nominated by the Seattle Seahawks head coach and Kerr’s friend, Pete Carroll, to “pass the peace.”

Started by Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson, the purpose of these videos is to stand up to domestic violence. Anyone that participates can nominate friends to join in so that awareness of the issue can be spread, much like this summer’s ice bucket challenge helped spread awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS.

In the video (which can be seen here), Kerr passes the peace along to Curry by saying, “I want to say thanks to Pete Carroll for passing the peace. I’m going to pass it along to the best point guard in the NBA, Steph Curry.”

That’s some very high praise from the five-time champion.

This wasn’t the first time Kerr had said something along those lines, however. After Golden State’s 136-115 demolition of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kerr had some kind words to say about his point guard.

“That’s as good a point guard job as I’ve ever seen, what Steph did tonight — managing the game, being aggressive at the right times, taking care of the ball, finding guys,” Kerr said in the locker room after the win.

“I think he’s the best in the NBA right now at that position.”

Curry finished the game that night with 30 points and 15 assists — seven of which came in the first quarter alone.

The argument of who is better will continue to be a never-ending debate in every sport, but if there’s one thing that isn’t debatable right now, it’s that Steph Curry is having another great season.
