Stocker & Stetter pace Crew’s 12-3 win Saturday night

Mel Stocker and Mitch Stetter were instrumental in Milwaukee’s 12-3 win Saturday night over the Pirates. Okay, not really…but the switch-hitting outfielder (Stocker) and the lefty reliever (Stetter), both added to the roster as the result of the roster expansion, did get some playing time–and both made their major league debuts. Significant to them and their families…but also to Brewers’ fans in that the Crew played well enough to give some of their young prospects some playing time…potentially valuable down the stretch here.
Their playing time was made possible thanks to a quality start by Dave Bush, who only surrendered 1 ER and 4 hits over 6 IP en route to the win and upping his record to 11-9 on the season. The offense avenged an early season loss to Shane Youman by tagging him for 8 ER’s over 2+ innings…Hart, Mench, Estrada, and Hall all drove in 2+ runs apiece.
The Crew goes for the sweep tomorrow…the Cubs’ edged the Astros to keep a 1½ game lead…Jeff Suppan squares off against Tom Gorzelanny in Sunday’s finale.
