Stover is the kicker

Given what an unknown AV is right now, I guess this qualifies as good news.  What’s weird is that AV is staying on the roster.

Matt Stover’s once-temporary gig as the Indianapolis Colts kicker is a bit more permament than before.

Stover, who handled place-kicking duties for the Colts in 10 of 11 games since K Adam Vinatieri underwent mid-October surgery on his right knee, will handle the role for the postseason, Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell said on Thursday.

Stover, 41, who spent his first 19 NFL seasons with Cleveland/Baltimore, has converted 9 of 11 field goal attempts and all 33 extra-point tries.

Vinatieri is still on the active roster and Caldwell said Thursday that could remain the case.
