Last night, Ichiro, a beloved figure in Seattle was dealt to New York to finish off the season. This was a great trade for the Mariners for several reasons. Ichiro was only getting older and likely wasn’t worth the price he would have cost next year, and they didn’t have to contend with fans who would have undoubtedly demanded that Ichiro be re-signed. They get to get ridof this burden all while collecting a couple of prospects and opening a spot in the outfield to test players out for the rest of the year. It was a tough move for the Mariners from a sentimentality standpoint, but ultimately, it will prove to be the right move.
Oh, I put up a picture of Michael Cuddyer. Wonder why I did that?
