The ESPNBoston.com summer forecast rolls on with the panel of bloggers answering the question: what do you expect out of Shaq this season. First up, Chuck… who said 13 and 7:
Shaquille O'Neal will be one of the team's best bench players who could see crunch-time minutes depending on matchups and foul trouble.
Jay and I pretty much had the same numbers pegged. I went with 20 minutes, 10 points, 7 rebounds… with Jay projecting:
He'll obviously be more relied upon earlier in the season, but will be relegated to a lesser role once Perk returns. With that being said, his final averages will look something like this: 18 MPG, 10 PPG, 7 RPG with slightly higher numbers early on.
In fact, the panel worked out to be 11 and 7 on the year… which I think would be a total success.
What do you guys think? If Shaq put up those numbers, would you be happy? If not, what do you need out of him to make this season a success?
