Summer League Update

Incoming NBA players have already proved themselves a few games into summer league and coaches are taking notice. Even though some teams which have lots of young talent lose games, it’s all about he development of themselves individually to make the team and what they can provide as a teammate beyond summer league. Here are some players who have already been on the highlight reel and have potential to contribute well to a NBA team.

*** Celtics players

Mario Hezonja- This guy has dunked on basically every single team! The 6’8 Croatian SF for the Orlando Magic has gotten onto ESPN for dunking more than once during this summer league while being a solid teammate. The Magic have reportedly said they would rest Hezonja for the remaining games of the summer league. This guy is the real deal down in Disney!

***Marcus Smart- The Celtics unfortunately have lost both summer league games thus far but Marcus Smart the second year guy out of Oklahoma State has proven himself as a highly intelligent defender and much more to this young, talented Celtics team. Dropping 26 points on Utah was a indicator that his shooting has improved and bulldozing to the hoop is usual for the 6’4 220 pound guard. Keep it up Marcus!

Joseph Young-  The Oregon guard who was drafted by the Indiana Pacers 27th overall in this years draft, surprised everyone last night by dropping 28 points onto a win for the Pacers. Young would compliment newly acquired guard Monta Ellis who was a scoring machine for Dallas. Young is a great pickup and a hustler.

Jahlil Okafor- Okafor is tearing up Las Vegas as he is scoring and ripping down the boards. Okafor is guiding the Sixers to victory behind his 6’11 frame and his abilities to post up and score which are far beyond his years. This guy will be a All-Star.

***Jordan Mickey- Mickey has been providing rebounds and points for the hungry Celtics this summer league. Mickey who was a the second most popular forward out of LSU, can block shots like crazy! 113 last year for the Tigers and hopefully his skillset can translate to the NBA. Mickey is doing superb for the Celtics in summer league and is translating smoothly as a undersized forward.
