The Cardinals came to Milwaukee hoping to return to some sense of normalcy after losing their teammate Josh Hancock early Sunday morning to a tragic car accident. Ironically, their opposing pitcher, Jeff Suppan, was also saddened by the loss, having been a teammate of Hancock’s last year with the Cardinals. But it was Suppan that was able to return to normalcy first, pitching a complete game, 8 hitter, allowing a lone run while fanning 5…the Brewers’ offense smacked Cards’ starter Kip Wells for 7 ER’s in 6 IP…the Brewers’ only mustered 7 hits themselves, but 5 of those were for extra bases: doubles by Prince Fielder, Johnny Estrada (which plated a pair) and Billy Hall; a triple by Kevin Mench; and a solo home run…also by Prince Fielder. Tony Graffanino also had an RBI (along with two by Kevin Mench). Ben Sheets is slated to start tomorrow night…everyone hold your collective breaths…and if you have a chance to obtain good karma, I say ‘go for it,’ as soon as you can.
