As we all know the tragedy of the shooting at an Aurora, CO theater took the lives of 12 people and injured countless others. One of those people killed was an aspiring sports journalist, Jessica Ghawi, known to some on twitter as @JessicaRedField.
She spread a love for sports, and hockey in particular through twitter and had also been a witness to another sensless shooting at a Tornoto mall earlier.
In the wake of her death the Jessica Redfield Sports Journalism Scholarship Fund has been set up as a way to help inspire and assist others looking to get an education in the world of sports journalism.
The goal was $20,000 as seed money for the scholarship and as of this writing they are already over the $35,000 mark.
