The Red Sox were looking to deal some of their outfield depth before the trade deadline and Ryan Sweeney was one of the players on the trading block. Sweeney injured a knuckle on his left hand and his trade potential when he punched a door in the eighth inning of tonight’s game. The Red Sox are awaiting the results of an X-Ray but the injury is significant enough to send Sweeney to the DL.
The timing could not have been worse for the Red Sox as they are scrabling to make some moves ahead of tomorrows trade deadline.
