Tampa Bay Buccaneers attempt to pull in more women fans has Bay Area seeing RED; But PERCEPTION is the villain here, not the Bucs.

It’s a hot summers day, and you look outside to see your neighbor cutting the grass. He stops, opens a cooler and pulls out a cool Beer and sits in a lawn chair and drinks it. So what do you think of this scenario? Guy is enjoying a nice cold one on a hot summers day!

Now same scene, but this time instead of a cold beer, the guy pulls out a bottle of bourbon, puts some ice in a glass and pours a couple Oz. whiskey and some coke to make a mixed drink. Whats do you think of this now? Maybe..”Boy that guy has a problem” !!!  It’s all in perception; the 2Oz of alcohol is equal to 5 oz Wine and 12 oz beer, and the ruckus yesterday over the Buccaneers release of RED: An initiative to increase female participation in football.

Before we get started, lets look at some facts first that you may not be aware of:

  • RED was created with advice from all Women Focus Groups.
  • RED was Authored with assistance from Women in Bucs front office.
  • This isnt new to the NFL, St.Louis Rams, Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, CIncinnati Bengals, Houston Texans and Indianaplis Colts, as well as Tennessee have similar programs.
  • Tennessee Titans women’s club includes Titans colored Nail Polish!
  • 500 Women signed up for the program by early Thursday afternoon, approx 6 hours.
  • It seems the largest group of women who were offended by the program are the ones that already get football and are already into it. The Bucs are simply trying to expand their market stateside, and the largest group of people who don’t get into football are women.

The RED  initiative is a program by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers designed to attract females who are not entirely comfortable with football. It doesn’t assume women are stupid and not capable of learning football, in fact quite the opposite. It attempts to attract women by mixing in football and other things like social media (Pintrest) food ( Bucs WR Vincent Jackson’s restaurant for example) but some have taken that and turned it into “The Bucs think women only know how to cook and be social butterflies”.

The age of Political Correcness is behind us, more and more people are saying Merry Christmas in December, realizing that the things that we were told was being offensive, wasn’t really MEANT to be offensive.

That’s the fine line that must be determined, the difference between BEING offended and OFFENDING someone. This new era is about expelling Political Correctness, and focusing on trying not to offend someone insensitively, as opposed to someone being too sensitive.

If you are offended by an anti-christian message, turn it off, don’t try to remove the messenger. I would challenge anyone to actually READ the entire message put forth by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and with an open mind, tell me that Tampa Bay Buccaneers are being offensive towards women: by trying to get them to be fans!

  • Then tell me that most women are not football fans.
  • Most women are not into social media
  • Most women are not into fashion

Stereotypes are OVER SIMPLIFIED generalizations, but the basis of all stereotypes is the underlying fact that dominant percentage of people or places or things usually DO fall into those categories. Not all fat people love dessert. But Im 320 pounds and I love me some sweets.

IF you already know football and you are a woman, Super, I bet your excited about the Bucs this year. If you are a woman who doesn’t really follow football for a number of reasons but have an interest if someone showed an interest in you, all the reason to give RED a shot.
