The Bucs played in an over-glorified practice yesterday against the Kansas City Chiefs, who did not seem to practice anywhere near enough to play with these Buccaneers. While the entire league missed out on OTAs and other events normally scheduled during the summer months, but obviously the workouts at IMG academies made all the difference in the world as Bucs players and coaches were playing in game like conditions, calling audibles, various other Game conditions while the Chiefs were simply tryiing run a more organzized practice.
And it showed. Tampa Bay’s starters and general first and second teamers were more crisp at blocking and tackling, and if not for a series of dropped passes in the first half the score could have been even more lopsided than it was. The Bucs controled the clock for half a minute shy of 40 minutes, had three times the first downs (18-6), 4 times the passing yards and the Bucs did not turn the ball over at all while the Chiefs starters had two of the team 4 fumbles in the first two drives alone.
As we’ll get more into the details as the day evolves, it’s important to point out the lack of importance that preseason results offer. I just wrote for JoeBucsfan.com that preseason is for the Coaches to evaluate, but for the fans to simply enjoy.
