Anyone who got a chance to listen to the new Wednesday night series on 620 WDAE AM got a real treat. Its a new one hour program on air on the Steve Duemig show called Legends, and it features The Big Dog and Derrick Brooks. I really enjoyed the camaraderie between these two men back when Big Dog would host the Derrick Brooks show, and that level of respect between the two men is still present. This time however, Brooks is not politically correct about his answers as he is no longer a teammate of anyone on the Bucs, nor are the questions supposed to be geared only towards Bucs type Qs. You can call in the show and ask Double Nickle about anything FSU, NFL, even Rays. The show will be at remote locations so you will even be able to see him, but the first few will be done in studio. While were on the subject of radio shows, I listen daily to the Ron & Ian show on 620 like most of you. Ron Diaz has been a local radio man in the bay area since the late 70s on the Ron and Ron show with 95 WYNF FM as well as other gigs. Diaz is very opinionated, and that sometimes irks people, including me. But he is a true local guy, and the Ron and Ian show goes out of their way to let you know they are a RADIO show, not just a sports show. Ian Beckles played right guard for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1990 to 1996, then went on to play for the Eagles and was on a few other rosters. My biggest knock on Ian is his tendancy to show a lack of preparation for sports knowledge. Both he and Diaz will get information wrong and rely on their assistants to look up facts for them. However, as their disclaimer, they are NOT just a sports show, they are a RADIO SHOW. Still, your on the “Sports Animal” guys. Bottom line is Ron and Ian are good radio to listen to, they have a chemistry together that is seldom matched in the industry. You may not always like what you hear, but you find yourself always tuning in. Slowly but surely becoming MUST LISTEN radio during the afternoon is Shawn King’s KING DAVID show on 1010 AM with Toby David and Shawn King former Bucs QB. While they may sound opinionated, and they are, they will always LISTEN to your opinion and respect it. TELEVISION doesnt really have a great Buccaneer show to watch right? WRONG! Chip Carter’s Tailgate Sunday is an awesome show each Sunday at 11:30 on FOX 13 just before the network Fox pregame show with Bradshaw, JJ, and the boys. Chip Carter is joined by Brad Culpepper, former Bucs Defensive Tackle who up until now, had a chip on his shoulder, and Im not talking about Chip Carter either! If your not a Pewter Report subscriber, become one! The digital magazine is awesome and can be downloaded as PDF format to your phone so you can still enjoy the magazine in the little room in your house where magazines are best read! You will also find gems like the one I did written by Brad Culppeper, and I got an insight on Culpepper’s feelings toward the Bucs. It seemed at times he was too harsh on the Bucs on the show, and his article written in the training camp issue of Pewter Report’s digital magazine shows why. Culpepper was the inside man on the ’99 defense that held the Rams to 11 points and sent notice to the NFL of the Tampa Two. But then the next year, after the third preseason game, he was let go. It seems he never got over that. Culpepper states in his article that he never supported previous regimes, but after an invite to One Buc as guest of Mark Dominik (the very man who was nice enough to deliver the message to Brad that he wasn’t wanted anymore) he stated that he now really wants to see the Bucs win. Culpepper also BLASTS former Bucs QB Trent Dilfer in the article. It was known he and Dilfer did not get along, but I had no idea how deep the animosity ran. When you bring up things 10 years later, its clear you havnt gotten over/forgotten them. He brings up the fact that the Bucs D held the Giants to 107 total yards on opening day 1999 but lost the game because Dilfer threw an interception for a TD, had a fumble returned for a TD, and another INT was turned into an instant FG. Glad to see your back in good graces with the Bucs Brad! I never agreed with getting rid of you after the ’99 season along with Hardy Nickerson. When you go to the NFC Championship with defense, you dont change it! INTERNET: The Buccaneers own website continues to develop into a fantastic source for information and entertainment. You’ll always find the Coaches and QBs press conferences up on the site almost immediately, and there are photos of players from games and practices. Each Week the Bucs do a weekly “Bucs Insider” video with Scott Smith that is very informative. If you want to know Who, What, Where, When, Why and How- You go to Bucpower.com. Paul Stewart’s website is a BUC-apedia of information. You can get game stats from every game! Now if I can just finally get my Bucs games ripped, Bucstop.com can be your source for Bucs video clips!
