2010 Bucs Lookback- Jackson, Tanard

Now we get into the controversial segment of our 2010 Lookback; or at least lookback at a Controversial player. Today were looking at Tanard Jackson, whose season was primarily comprised of the first two games before he was suspended by the League after week 2 for substance abuse issues.

Jackson was already suspended in 2009 for 4 weeks, so the next time he gets suspended, there will not be a reinstatement procedure; The next one is permanent.

It’s a shame because Tanard is a talented individual. As seen here, he is far more talented than his ball hawking reputation has him. He is fantastic in his run support, and that aspect was missing from week 2 on. Cody Grimm showed he has the run support genes too, and he will probably be called upon for the first two weeks until Jackson is reinstated; he is not eligible for such reinstatement until after week 2.

Jackson was a big hit right from the get-go here in Tampa Bay. As a rookie in 2007, he became the first rookie to start for a Monte Kiffin led defense since the first year; Donnie Abraham in 1996.

Only time will tell if Tanard Jackson can be counted on to be a productive member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense, but one thing is for sure; Should he falter the Bucs are NOT without options this time around.
