Central Florida defensive coordinator Ted Roof has confirmed he will be heading to Penn State to rejoin former co-Duke and Georgia Tech assistant Bill O’Brien.
This will be Roof’s seventh different job since 2007, with stops at Duke, Louisville, Minnesota, Auburn and Central Florida before setting up shop in State College. We’ll wait to see exactly what position Roof take son the staff but after being a defensive coordinator each of his past three jobs, it would be somewhat unlikely t see him take on a reduced role at Penn State.
That thought has not been well received by many on Twitter, but keep in mind that he will have assistants Larry Johnson and Ron Vanderlinden working with him for sure, and the talent could (should) be a step up from some of his previous stints so the results may not necessarily transfer to Penn State.
Or maybe they will. It’s just one more of the mysteries to unwrap when the staff and team get to camps and get ready for the 2012 season. Also remember that fans were quick to turn on O’Brien, but those emotions seem to have changed their tune, for the most part, in a short period of time.
