Temple came out firing on all cylinders in the second half after going cold to close out the first half going on a 13-4 run and starting to pull away. Temple got the lead all the way up to to 22 points, but Farliegh Dickinson didn’t give up and pulled within seven, but timely free throws from Quentin DeCosey and Josh Brown kept Farleigh Dickinson at bay. Quenton DeCosey led Temple with 22 points and 8 rebounds and was perfect at the free throw line as Temple got back to .500 with a 79-70 victory.
Temple dominated the paint for once this season thanks to Jaylen Bond’s 18 points with 12 of them coming in the second half. Bond was also able to stay out of foul trouble for a change, only being whistled for one foul and it shows how crucial his presence on the court is for Temple to have success. Josh Brown stuffed the scoresheet with career high in assists(7) and blocks(4); he also had 6 rebounds and only turned the ball over once. Trey Lowe had another solid performance off the bench scoring 8 points off the bench including a thunderous put back dunk that got the student section going. Temple had 17 points off the bench and the copious amount depth the Owls continues to be most beneficial.
Temple shot its best shooting percentage from the floor tonight making 25 of 53 field goals which is for 47%, their highest percentage of the year so far. The Owls, who were averaging 14 free attempts per game, were able to get to the free throw line a season-high 28 times. Temple shot 89% from the charity strike and out-rebounded Farliegh Dickinson 39 to 18, including 13 offensive rebounds.
Temple was a little sloppy at the end of the game, but a win’s a win and they are back to .500 now at 3-3. Next up for Temple is NCAA Championship runner-up Wisconsin, who just looked down #14 Syracuse in an overtime thriller. The game is set for Saturday at 12:30 PM in Madison, WIS. and the game can be viewed on CBS, although Temple fans’ attention may be drawn elsewhere.
