Temple heading to the Marmot Boca Raton Bowl

#24 Temple’s storybook season will continue on after a heartbreaking loss in the AAC Championship, the Owls are going bowling in the sun. Temple is going to the Marmot Boca Raton Bowl game, where they will face Mid-American Conference power, the Toledo Rockets(9-3). The game is set for December 22nd at FAU Stadium and kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM. Just to think Temple was one win away from playing Florida State, but they will settle for a formidable Toledo, who they have faced in the past. It’s not the game you really wanted, but after being snubbed last year, it’s just a blessing the Owls get to keep playing. Temple with a win will have it’s first 11-win season in program history and this is their first bowl game appearance since they defeated Wyoming in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl in 2011.

The important thing for Temple is to end the season on a high note and Matt Rhule could not stress that enough when he addressed the media following Temple’s bowl destination being announced. “The prize isn’t going to be the bowl game, the prize is winning the bowl game…Let’s get 11 wins and let’s finish in the top 25.” This statement pretty much nails Temple’s goal right on the head and you can bet they will be ready for this game because they are always looking towards what’s next.

This will be the eleventh overall meeting between the two schools with Toledo leading the all-time series 7-3 and the first meeting since 2011 where Toledo cruised to a 36-13 victory at the Linc. The preview and other news for the game will be posted later this week so stayed tune. I will be in Boca Raton for the bowl game and I will be giving updates on the game through the 610 Sports Now account on Twitter for those who aren’t able to watch.
