Temple to play Clemson in Charleston Classic

This upcoming Thanksgiving weekend, the Temple Owls will draw the Clemson Tigers in their first game of the Charleston Classic. Temple will be looking for revenge as the Owls lost to the Tigers in 2008 in the championship game. Obviously, the same players aren’t there anymore but Fran Dunphy was there and most likely still remembers that lost.

The other teams participating in the classic is Georgia, Davidson, Nebraska, UMass, New Mexico, and UAB. If Temple beats Clemson then they would take on the winner of the Georgia-Davidson game on November 22nd at 9:30 pm. But if the Owls lose then they would play in the consolation bracket at 7:00 pm.

Either way, this early season tournament can only help the Owls in terms of non-conference opponents. Davidson has been in the NCAA tournament for the last few years, UMass has been a perennial NIT team and New Mexico has been an NCAA tournament team as well.

Don’t forget the Owls will be playing in another early season tournament in December. So to begin the season, the young Temple Owls have a tough road back to the NCAA tournament ahead of them. Forgot to mention, if the Owls make it to the championship game, it will be on November 24th at 9:00 pm and will be televised on ESPN2.
