It was announced yesterday that LIU-Brooklyn will be taking on the Temple Owls on December 21st at the Barclays Center for the second annual Brooklyn Hoops Holiday Invitational. The other teams participating in this invitational are Michigan, Stanford, Manhattan, and Buffalo.
This game and this invitational will not be easy because the Owls are losing a lot of players due to the NBA and graduation. Next season, the Owls will be without the likes of Khalif Wyatt and Scootie Randall who were their leading scorers. They also lose T.J. Dileo, Jake O’Brien, and Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson. So the Owls will be in transition by time this game comes around.
Next, don’t sleep on the LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds who have made themselves to be a mid-major powerhouse. They made history this past season by becoming the first team in NEC history to win three straight conference tournaments and then go to the NCAA tournament. The Blackbirds also won 20 games for the third consecutive time. The Owls will be tested as LIU-Brooklyn brings back both of their stars in Jason Brickman and Julian Boyd.
Brickman is an assist machine while Boyd is coming off a knee injury. This game will test the young Temple Owls as they are going to be in the Blackbirds’ backyard and if they do get by them they will have tougher opponents waiting for them.
