For the third straight day, some vaguely substantive-like news thing out of Titans land. After the signings of Tim Shaw and Leger Douzable (officially confirmed today) the past two days, today saw the announcement of the Titans’ preseason schedule. Last year at this time, I got to make snarky comments about the incongruent nature of announcing the preseason schedule when nobody knew for sure if there would even be a regular season, let alone a preseason. No such snark this time, thankfully, so here’s what we know:
Aug. 9-13: at Seattle Seahawks
Aug. 16-20: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Aug. 23 (Thursday): vs. Arizona Cardinals (7 PM CT, ESPN)
Aug. 29-31: vs. New Orleans Saints
Due to the ongoing renovations of LP Field, including new video boards, the Titans’ requested to play their first two preseason games on the road, to give them extra time to complete the construction. Such request was indeed granted. The Titans also continue their streak of playing the Saints to conclude the preseason for what I believe is the third of four times barring a further renewal. If I’m correct, expect the 2013 preseason will likely conclude with another game in the Superdome.
The big news is of course the third and generally most important preseason game, where the winner of the quarterback battle (which better be Jake Locker) should play at least the first half, will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. Beyond that, mostly blah. Official dates and times of the other games should be announced at some point between now and the end of September; don’t expect separate posts here when they do that.
