Beau Brinkley and Justin Staples each only appeared on special teams. Michael Oher was active but did not appear in the game after he felt something pop in warmups per Ken Whisenhunt.
Notes:
1. Second week in a row Dexter McCluster has led all backs in snaps. Anecdotally, that seemed to be because he dominated second half snaps, and particularly snaps with Locker in the game, when the Titans were trying to come back from the 24-0 deficit.
2. Chase Coffman had his second-lowest snap count of his tenure on the roster. The lowest, 4 snaps, came in Week 8 against those same Houston Texans. That sort of thing makes me thing there’s something specific to the Texans matchup that made Whisenhunt and Jason Michael want to avoid two pass-catching TE sets.
3. With Justin Hunter missing the second half, Derek Hagan took advantage of all those snaps created by avoiding 12 and thus heavy use of 11 personnel.
4. Chance Warmack’s ankle injury that took him out for a play leaves Andy Levitre as the only Titans player to play every offensive snap this season.
5. Sammie Hill up, Mike Martin/Ropati Pitoitua combo down, more or less, is the only thing I find worthy of even moderate note on the DL.
6. With Kamerion Wimbley down and Shaun Phillips gone, Quentin Groves unsurprisingly played more snaps than he had in any previous game, passing last week’s 29. Newcomer Dontay Moch didn’t stand out to me live, aside from that he possibly should have been the player in coverage on Ryan Griffin on Houston’s first touchdown pass.
7. Avery Williamson became the second Titans inside linebacker to play every snap in a game this season. Wesley Woodyard was out there for all 87 snaps against the Colts in Week 4.
8. Opposing WR3 Damaris Johnson 45 snaps, Titans nickel CB Coty Sensabaugh 49 snaps. Close enough for me.
9. Notwithstanding last week’s shoulder injury that left him questionable on the injury report, Michael Griffin played every snap, as he has every game but the Eagles game in which he suffered that injury. He’s now played 99.0% of all defensive snaps (868 of 877), most on the team. Jason McCourty is second with 93.5% (820), followed by Derrick Morgan (747, 85.2%), Jurrell Casey (696, 79.4%), and Wesley Woodyard (695, 79.2%).
