The Tennessee Titans announced today they re-signed offensive tackle Mike Otto. The 2007 seventh-round draft pick has spent his entire career with the Titans, spending last year with the team on a restricted free agent tender, but was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins on March 13. Jim Wyatt reported the extension was for two years. Terms have not been disclosed.
Otto has been the Titans’ primary backup at tackle for the last couple seasons, and my best guess is he’ll play the same role. The cynic in me suggests this means the Titans aren’t ready for last year’s sixth-round pick Byron Stingily to play that role. There’s an outside chance Otto could be in the mix at right guard, but I doubt that.
