Tennessee Titans Week 6 Snap Report

The NFL has started officially keeping track of player participation data and releasing that information to the media. Here's how the Titans lined up in yesterday's win against the Steelers.

Offense (71 total)
QB: Matt Hasselbeck 71
RB/FB: Chris Johnson 63, Quinn Johnson 23, Darius Reynaud 5, Jamie Harper 2
TE: Craig Stevens 46, Jared Cook 44, Taylor Thompson 15
WR: Nate Washington 55, Kenny Britt 45, Kendall Wright 31, Damian Williams 26
OL: Leroy Harris 71, Steve Hutchinson 71, Michael Roos 71, David Stewart 71, Fernando Velasco 71

Analysis: This is really the first time all year Craig Stevens has gotten significant playing time with Jared Cook healthy. Obviously that's partly a result of the game situation, but it's also the result of more multiple-TE sets. Chris Johnson's previous high was 50 snaps in a game; Javon Ringer's injury was a factor here. Kendall Wright's previous low mark was 34 snaps in the game against San Diego where the Titans only had 42 snaps. Britt's season high and fewer 3-WR sets mattered here.

Defense (64 total)
DE: Kamerion Wimbley 58, Derrick Morgan 55, Scott Solomon 11, Pannel Egboh 7
DT: Mike Martin 48, Sen'Derrick Marks 42, Karl Klug 15, Jurrell Casey 15
LB: Colin McCarthy 64, Akeem Ayers 58, Zach Brown 27
CB: Jason McCourty 64, Alterraun Verner 61, Ryan Mouton 37, Coty Sensabaugh 1
S: Jordan Babineaux 64, Michael Griffin 64, Robert Johnson 12, Al Afalava 3

Analysis: The Titans don't really believe in rotating their defensive ends. This is something I'm just taking as given going forward. Martin was the beneficiary of Casey's shoulder injury. Jerry Gray mentioned at this week's media session you'd probably see both Zach Brown and Will Witherspoon play this week. Not on defense. Al Afalava's snaps came at the expense of Robert Johnson in the Ruby package.

Other: Beau Brinkley, Tommie Campbell, Zac Diles, Kevin Matthews, Tim Shaw, Will Witherspoon each played only on special teams. Rusty Smith and Byron Stingily did not appear in the game.
