The Oakland Raiders travel to Kansas City to face off against their arch-rival Chiefs. The Chiefs are the only AFC West team to have an all time winning record against the Raiders.

The last two years, the Raiders have split their season series with the Chiefs with the away teams winning. It was the 2007 defeat of the Chiefs in Arrowhead that broke the Raiders two year streak of futility against the AFC West. Last season, the Raiders dominated the Chiefs in Arrowhead, but lost at home after the play that has become known as the “Wild Bass Formation.” It was a fake field goal that went awry and ended up a TD for the visiting team.

The Raiders’ defense played their best game in week one, with the exception of the last drive. They showed that they could bring the pressure in a way that had not been seen in ages. The Chiefs are nowhere near the quality team that the Chargers were, and if the Raiders defense can bring that same intensity the Chiefs won’t be able to do much of anything.

The question for the Raiders will be their special teams. Their starting kickoff and punt returners are both prominent on the injury report, and they had coverage issues last week. Hiram Eugene will be returning punts, and he has never returned a punt as a professional. Louis Rankin will be kickoffs for the second consecutive week, but he only averaged 16.8 yards per return.

Final score:

Oakland 24

KC 10

  • The Raiders will run for 175 yards.
  • The Raiders will get at least two sacks.
  • Zach Miller will have 5 catches and a TD
  • Darrius Heyward-Bey will have his first reception in the second half
  • JaMarcus Russell will throw an interception.
