The 2016 Cardinals Will Score All Of The Runs… Or None Of Them

The phrase ‘feast or famine’ gets tossed around in sports not irregularly.

But I’m having a difficult time remembering a professional sports team, let alone a Cardinals team, that has been so all in or all out without any consistency game to game.

They’re an EKG with batting gloves.

And the ones not wearing batting gloves are smashing 6 RBIs.

The Cardinals have scored 10+ runs 9 times so far this season, matching their total for the entire 2015 season, a season in which they won 100 games and the NL Central title.

I don’t care if you’re playing the worst team in baseball every single night… scoring 10 runs in a MLB game is very, very hard. To do it every 5th game?

By my count, they’ve also scored 0 or 1 run in 10 games. So in 46% of their games, the Cardinals have scored 0, 1 or 10+ runs.

Basically ever other game is either total full-throttle offense or a gentle curling into the fetal position.

Silliness.

If you’re looking for some sort of insight on the extreme buoyancy of the Cardinals offensive scorecards… I don’t have it. And if I had to bet, Coach Mike doesn’t either.

We could be witnessing one of the great offensive teams in Cardinals history. We could be witnessing one of the worst offensive teams in Cardinals history.

A quarter of the way through the baseball season, we’re all very confused.
