The 4th quarter was a good thing

Yes we let an “insurmountable” lead almost vanish.

Yes our bench was manhandled by Detroit’s bench.

But our horrible fourth quarter was a good thing and let me tell you why.  Because it won’t happen again.

It’s all mental.  These are the same players that took Philly into overtime without any help at all from LBJ and the rest of the starters.  They can play ball, but last night they didn’t.  Who knows why?  Overconfidence?  Trying to wind down the clock instead of playing the game?  I guarantee there will be several games this playoff where the starters are resting in the 4th but I have no fear that this will happen again.  Coach Brown won’t let it happen.  Their teammates won’t let it happen.  They won’t let it happen.

Being too good can make you sedentary and complacent.  Just ask the 18-1 Patriots.  This team is that good but we won’t be complacent.  Not now, not ever.  The next time they’ll be in Cleveland will be for game 1 in round 2.  This series is over.
