If you like the idea of racing your buddies with your vision impaired, all the while fearing you're going to fall down in front of thousands or, better yet, sweating your behind off while being enclosed inside a costume that (probably) smells like an unfortunate mixture of dead feet and turds…you might be in luck!
The Oakland Athletics are currently seeking part-time, seasonal employees to perform as the Hall of Fame Racing Mascots during the 2014 season. The racing mascots will interact and take photos with fans, and run in the Hall of Fame Mascot race during the game. They must always display a high energy, enthusiastic, professional, and friendly attitude to A’s fans at games and outside appearances. Hall of Fame Racing Mascots must be available throughout the entire baseball season.
Oh, and as you might have suspected, the job does requires you to run and wear a costume of one of the teams three Hall of Famers…Rollie Fingers, Dennis Eckersley or Rickey Henderson. That said, I'm not sure how far you have to run or how much the costume weighs.
• Must have ability to run a minimum of 250 yards in a 50 pound costume.
• Must have ability to perform and entertain while wearing a 50 pound costume for extended periods of time.
• Cardio/respiratory endurance between 400-800 meters. Running skills will be tested.
• Must be able to lift and carry items up to 50lbs.
Never mind.
A mustache isn't necessary, but, yeah…it would probably help your chances. If you don't have one, a foam rubber costume head of your favorite mustached Oakland A's Hall of Famer will be provided.
