‘The Admiral’: Lakers still a few moves away from challenging Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers made a huge splash this offseason by trading for center Dwight Howard and adding him to a roster that is shaping up to one of the most formidable starting five in the NBA.

Howard will be joining Lakers' Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Steve Nash next season and the addition of the big man has San Antonio Spurs fans worried about the team's chances at capturing title number five considering the team is lacking size.

However, Spurs great David Robinson feels the Lakers adding Howard is still not enough to challenge the Spurs. Check out what he had to say to Magic Johnson about the addition of Howard.

This must be a rare moment Spurs fans get to see Robinson doing a little trash-talking with his buddy Magic, however, the question now becomes – is he right?

Clearly, the Lakers have the size advantage over the Spurs with Gasol and now Howard but the Spurs have the better backcourt with Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and possibly Nando De Colo and Patty Mills (if he gets more time on the court after his great Olympic play) as opposed to an aged Nash, and Bryant and Steve Blake.

Though L.A. did shore up their bench with Antawn Jamison and Jodie Meeks, San Antonio still have a deeper bench with players such as Boris Diaw, Tiago Splitter, Stephen Jackson, and Gary Neal.

However, size does matter in the NBA and L.A. has it while the Spurs don't.

What do you think Spurs fans? Is "Big Dave" right or do you feel the Spurs don't have a chance against the Lakers in a seven-game playoff series?
