The Columbus Blue Jackets thought they could swim amongst the Sharks and unfortunately for them, they failed. The San Jose Sharks defeated the Jackets by a score of 3-1 last night. What went right? What went wrong? Is this a sign of things to come for the team?
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Good: Sergei Bobrovsky
What the Blue Jackets are getting out of Sergei Bobrovsky is what they needed early last year. He is playing quite well and keeping the Jackets in games with his play. Save for the first game, he has had a .900 sv% or higher every night. They need that type of goaltending from him all season long to be any sort of contender.

These are the types of plays he makes when he is on fire; especially against strong teams like San Jose. He kept them in the game and that is all they could really ask for from the Russian netminder.
The Bad: Possession Loss
After a couple of strong possession outings against teams that normally do well in that regard, the West Coast trip has proven to be tough sledding. The Kings and Sharks are two of the best possession teams in the league, losing that battle to them isn’t a surprise, you would just hope that the Jackets would put up more of a fight.
As the Jackets go on to face the Ducks, the weakest of the three California teams, you hope that they can pull a rabbit out of their hat and give the fans something to look forward to. Leaving the month of October with a .500 record is nothing to scoff at and they have a chance to do so tonight.
The Ugly: Power Outage
Lights have turned off at the SAP Center, I assume this is the beginning of a new 'Jaws' reboot. #CBJ #CBJAfterDark pic.twitter.com/gtAzdteB4R

While the goofy power outage towards the end of the second may be all anyone talks about from this game a year from now. The Jackets and the front office will be talking about a completely different outage. They should be getting worried by how some players are performing, more specifically Brandon Dubinsky and Boone Jenner. Dubinsky finally has an over 50% CF night at even strength which is right up his alley but he was never a threat offensively.
Jenner seems to be getting his feet under him as well, the Canadian forward had four SOG and was second among all forwards in even strength ice time. Both should eventually bounce back, when it will finally happen though is anyone’s guess. Being non-factors like they have been all season long is very, very odd.
