The 1963 Topps set is most famous for Pete Rose’s rookie card, but this is a really good card too…all four players on this card (including the newly inducted Tony Oliva) went on to excellent Major League careers, with each man playing in over 1000 MLB games and hitting more than 100 home runs.
In 1971 Oliva appeared in one of the first 3-D card sets ever made, for Kellogg’s.
Most of Oliva’s baseball card photos were of the generic, “pose with a bat in your hands” variety. However this card from 1971 Topps Greatest Moments presents a great action shot.
In today’s baseball card market, you will find various memorabilia cards featuring multiple former ballplayers. This bat card of Oliva and Roberto Clemente might be one of the best out there.
