With very few decent college football teams plying Saturday night (seriously, Florida State-Boston College?), I took advantage of the opportunity to watch the Cavs game.
I’ve seen plenty of games throughout my life, and I’ve witnessed some of the most talented teams in Cavs’ history, from the days of World B. Free, to Daugherty-Nance-Price and Company, to the Eastern Conference Champions of two seasons ago.
And I’ve gotta say, this version of the Cavaliers shows more promise and more talent than any team I’ve seen from Cleveland. When they want to turn it up, there’s not much you can do to slow them down.
The trades and acquisitions that GM Danny Ferry has made in the past year have been perfect for this team. Mo Williams is the PG we needed, and it has opened up SO many more options for LeBron and the rest of the team. No longer does LBJ have to carry the load and run the show. He can be the player he needs to be.
Williams’ talents allows LeBron to be better, and that in turn allows Boobie Gibson to be better. Which, of course, makes the Cavaliers better.
From Wally to Ben Wallace to Delonte West to Williams, this team looks very different each season…and thankfully, they look better and better. The current 7-game win streak is promising, but it’s a long season.
But after 10 games, I must say I am VERY impressed.
